Heard on Southwest Airlines just after a very hard landing because of a rough runway surface. The flight attendant came an the intercom and said, "That was quite a bump and I know what y'all are thinking. I'm here to tell you it wasn't the airline's fault, it wasn't the pilot's fault, it wasn't the flight attendants' fault.....it was the asphault"

The ULTRA-COM aircraft headsets

The ULTRA-COM aircraft headsets

Your sails a little faded? Are they safe to fly on? Click here for more information!

The ULTRA-COM aircraft headsets are state- of-the-art design for performance, comfort and quality.

Large 2" speakers offer superior frequency response and sound quality. The industry's standard noise-canceling M/87 AIC micro- phone is amplified and impedance balanced for optimum utility. Microphone boom fully adjusts for ideal center-of-the-mouth positioning.

Durable, light-weight materials and soft cushion speaker rings provide maximum comfort and noise-attenuation. Earphones are fully adjustable for proper fit to seal out ambient noise.

This American-made system has been designed for clear communication utilizing our proprietary DUAL-COM intercom circuit. This intercom can be interfaced with most portable transceivers when used with the proper interface cable. The system includes two audio-equipped headsets and one DUAL-COM intercom.

A push-to-talk switch cable and a power cord are supplied with this system. When used with a matching interface cable, radio transmission may be accomplished as well.

The DUAL-COM equipment is self-contained and offers ideal communication for all flight conditions and can be used in aircraft without electrical systems.

The Comtronics DUAL-COM intercom is the only intercom made exclusively for ultralight and light plane operation that will selectively receive and transmit on two transceivers without modifications.

In addition to the same circuit as that used in our popular ultralight intercom. we have added a very efficient switching circuit that makes the unit even more versatile. It provides a pilot the option to transmit from either of two separate transceivers while monitoring both simultaneously.

For instance, the pilot may wish to contact his ground crew via one transceiver and also notify a nearby airport of his location and intentions on another. All of this can be accomplished by using the simple switching circuit provided.

The entire circuit has been placed within a metal enclosure of overlapping construction to effectively shield out RF and EMI interference. The selection process is controlled by one toggle switch located on the front surface of the box. Radio actuation is controlled by a single push-to-talk switch which may be mounted on the aircraft in a convenient location; for instance, on the pilot's control stick.

In addition to the dual transceiver interface, the intercom includes a 9-volt battery for back-up and a 12- volt power jack with a voltage regulator built in. On the back side, there is a music input port that may be used for an FM radio or tape player.
