Annual or 100 Hour Condition Inspection

The result of a coordination and review with the FAA and EAA has been the "Annual or 100 Hour Condition Inspection" form. This is the minimum data that must be recorded. This form is available for all pilots and is a requirement for ASC instructors. It is recommended that each vehicle be inspected per the manufacturers recommendations. Those inspections may be documented on this form or forms of more detail. Each trainer must be inspected to the following applicable detail, as a minimum. (For recording purposes, check each item successfully completed "X each item requiring repair and record completion of the required action on the back of the form.)

Reference FAR Part 43, app. D

Each person performing an annual or 100-hour condition inspection shall:

A. Before that inspection, remove or open all necessary inspection plates, access doors, fairings, and cowlings, and shall thoroughly clean the vehicle and engine.

B. Inspect (where application) the following components of the fuselage and hull group:

  1. Fabric and skin.
  2. Systems and components.
  3. Envelope, gas bag, ballast tanks and related parts.

C. Inspect (where applicable) the following components of the cabin and cockpit group:

  1. Generally.
  2. Seats and safety belts.
  3. Windows and windshields.
  4. Instruments.
  5. Flight and engine controls,
  6. Batteries.
  7. All systems.

D.  Inspect (where applicable) the following components of the engine and nacelle group:

  1. Engine section.
  2. Studs and nuts.
  3. Internal engine including compression and for metal particles or foreign matter.
  4. Engine mount.
  5. Flexible vibration dampeners.
  6. Engine controls.
  7. Lines, hoses and clamps.
  8. Exhaust stacks.
  9. Accessories.
  10. All systems.
  11. Cowling.

E. Inspect (where applicable) the following components of the landing gear group:

  1. All units.
  2. Shock absorbing devices.
  3. Linkages, trusses, and members.
  4. Hydraulic lines.
  5. Electrical systems.
  6. Wheels.
  7. Tires.
  8. Brakes.
  9. Floats and skis

F. Inspect (where applicable) the following components of the wing and center section assembly.

G. Inspect (where applicable) all the components and systems that make up the complete empennage assembly.

H. Inspect (where applicable) the following components of the propeller group:

  1. Propeller assembly.
  2. Bolts.
  3. Anti-icing devices
  4. Control mechanisms.

I. Inspect (where applicable) the following components of the radio group:

  1. Radio and electronic equipment.
  2. Wiring conduits.
  3. Bonding and shielding.
  4. Antenna, including trailing antenna.

J. Inspect (where applicable) each installed miscellaneous item that is not otherwise covered by this listing.

These shall include inspection for improper operation, improper installation, poor condition, unacceptable wear, deterioration, defects, or unsatisfactory operation.
