Green Landings of West Virginia is now distributing the Sky Ranger. The
Sky Ranger is side by side seating two place in a tractor configuration,
which has been produced in France since 1992. For five consecutive years
it won the World Microlight Championship. Currently their are over 600 of
them flying world wide with 90 aircraft having been sold in the U.S.
The plane comes as a quick build kit which can be built in as little as
100 hours. Construction used in the kit is bolt together aluminum tube
construction, covered in dacron sail cloth.
According the Jeff Green of Green Landings, " the kit comes in a number
of sub-assemblies including pre-built pre-covered ailerons, flaps, and
tail section, with all the hardware, bolts, washers, attach brackets etc.,
already in their place. The two main wings can be built in as little as 5
hours with easy installation of the slip-on dacron covers.
Standard features include a full enclosure, hydraulic disc brakes, 3
position flaps, in-flight trim, 4 point harness, luggage compartment,
bubble doors, skylight roof, and dual controls using a center stick and
dual rudder pedals.
The use of the center stick for control allows for easy entry and
larger pilots easily fit into the spacious 43 inch wide cabin.
The Sky Ranger is currently set up to handle the Rotax series of
engines from the 503 and 582 two strokes through to the 912 series, with a
mount currently being developed for the HKS engine.
The Sky Ranger has a gross of 1,050 gross lbs., a take-off roll
at gross of 350 ft. and landing roll out at less than 300 ft. Approach
speed is 50 mph, and stalls in the mid 30’s. Climb rates are over 1200’
per minute.
Green Landing which utilizes 6 Sky Ranger aircraft in their flight
