Jeff Holomis the new owner of Full Lotus Manufacturing was at Sun N Fun.
Jeff purchased the company late last year and was at Paradise City for the
first time. The Full Lotus float was first introduced in 1985, and to my
knowledge was the first company to manufacture an inflatable float for
ultralights and light aircraft. According to Jeff the floats are
available in both single and dual float systems to fit aircraft from a
single place ultralight like the Kolb Firestar up to conventional Cub
style aircraft and helicopters to 2600 lbs.
The floats are very lightweight, extremely tough and shock absorbing,
pilots have reported landing and taking off on their floats from grass
strips and some have even used the floats in winter as ski's.
Another advantage of the float is that because of the tough outer
casing the floats can be beached on rocky shores, or be bumped up against
submerged objects even at taxi speeds without damage.
Another safety feature is that because each float uses eight separate
internal air filled bladders it is nearly impossible to sink the float
even if four of the eight bladders are punctured.
The floats can be easily mounted to just about any light aircraft, and
accessories available include water rudders, and amphib kits.
