Over the years one of the most innovative designers of ultralight aircraft
has to be Wayne Ison of Ison Aircraft. Last year he introduced his N Ison
EZ a little all wood single place part 103 ultralight at Sun n Fun. This
year he had the latest in his stable of aircraft the Tri-bike.
According to Wayne the idea of a tricycle gear ultralight came just
three weeks before the show, which didn't give him enough time to
completely finish the fuselage or wings.
But even with just a fuselage on display "the box of literature we had
was gone on the first day." Wayne expects the kit will take about 200
hours to build with most of that time spent on the wings, and engine
installation since the fuselage will be coming already built.
Power for the Tri-bike can range from the single cylinder Hirth 22 hp
on up to the 503 50 hp Rotax. |
