Nebulus emergency float system.
The strut on the left has a unit installed as it would be on a ppc.
While the strut on the right has a deployed unit.

A company called JTW Associates was at Sun N Fun this year with a floatationNebulus Emergency Floating device device called the Nebulus. It is a safety system that you can attach quickly and easily to your powered parachute, or ultralight aircraft that in the case of an emergency landing into water you can inflate and your aircraft will float instead of sinking.
The system was originally developed to help prevent the many drowning deaths each year that happen when snowmobiles and all terrain vehicles crash through thin ice in the winter.
The system actually does two things it floats a submerged ultralight in the event of an emergency water landing and it aids searchers because of it's highly visible colour, including reflective tape that can be seen at night.
The system fastens to any straight piece of structural tubing. The system is activated manually by the pilot pulling a cord which releases compressed air to fill the air bag. The device has been  successfully crash tested twice into water on a powered parachute.
