To be successful in this business you have to be at the "leading
edge of the wave," that is you have to see and react to things in
the industry. One man that has done that is Guy De France of
Speedwing Aircraft. Guy saw the potential of a plane called the
X-Air and became it's distributor. He saw the potential for the
Simonini engine line and became it's distributor.
This year at Sun N Fun he introduced a new powered parachute
line from Europe called the Air Sylphe. The Air Sylphe is
available in both a single and two place version. The Air
Sylphe uses a welded steel air frame, painted in epoxy paint, and
comes with a 7.92 gallon fuel tank. In North America the units
will be powered by Simonini engines. One of the unique features of
the Air Sylphe is it's propulsion system. Rather than using the
standard prop configuration found on most powered parachutes, a
duct fan is used. This provides more efficient directional thrust
directly behind the ppc and with considerably less noise.
