Para-Ski Star Flex

Joe Albanese of Para-Ski has introduced something new every time I have interviewed him at Sun N Fun. This year he had two new models the Flex and Star Flex.

The Flex is single seat powered parachute available in either a 3 or 4 wheel configuration, and two models the standard model will use the single cylinder Hirth engine, while the Reflex will be built around larger twin cylinder engines from Rotax and Hirth.

The StarFlex is a two seat tandem seating two place powered parachute with a real "Indy Car" look. It is powered by the new Hirth 70 HP liquid cooled engine, which Hirth has designed to mount right into a Rotax 582 motor mount bolt pattern. Joe indicates the engine is cheaper than a comparable 582, gives better performance.

Para Ski has incorporated a set of lifting wings, on the front and rear of the StarFlex  which provides extra lift when flying. The four point extra wide stance of the StarFlex gives it excellent ground stability. Steering is via a set of handle bars on the ground and a set of foot pedals in the air.

Two sizes of chutes are available, a storage compartment under the rear seat allows easy storage of the chute when not flying, another compartment under the front seat allows for storing, tools, maps, etc.
