BRS ballistic parachute save
#107 |
A Norwegian paraglider pilot was enjoying a pleasant
day of
ridge soaring. After climbing high, a wave-induced rotor collapsed his
wing. After reinflating, the wing collapsed two more times. Jon
Lorentzen deployed his BRS.
"We are trained to reinflate the wing; this is
standard procedure. But I'm less experienced and when I could not keep
the wing inflated, I was losing height rapidly. I deployed. It worked
well! Both canopies ended up open and I landed so softly I was able to
relaunch and flew again that same day. Thanks, BRS!"
Result: Pilot Survived!
