The Stolglass is produced in Columbia
and distributed in the U.S. by C R Aviation. It has been in production
since 2002 and there are currently over 60 aircraft flying worldwide.
The plane is being offered in the U.S. as a factory built craft under
the new Light Sport Aircraft category, or can be built from kit for the
experimental category. Building times are reported to be between 800 and
1000 hours, with most of this work being in the " closing up of the wing
bays, running the control systems, and final assembly of the cage."
The craft uses standard three axis controls similar to that found in a
Cessna 150/152, which is a yoke for a control stick and rudder pedals,
with dual brakes, and full span flaperons.
The Stolglass is side by side seating, with adjustable seats and a
large storage area behind the seats.
Power is being supplied by the Rotax 912 series of engines, and the
Corvair auto conversion is also available. The Stolglass has a 24.5 gallon
fuel capacity, giving it an 1100 nautical mile range. Cruise speed is 115
mph with stall coming in at 35 mph.
