Powrachutes produces of the Skyrascal, PC
2000,
and Pegasus line of powered parachutes introduced a new engine
option for their aircraft - the Hog Air Harley Davidson

|
The HogAir package is built around the latest Harley Davidson engine the
Twin Cam 88. The Twin Cam 88 is computer designed and was run for over
half a million test miles before being introduced to the market.
This testing and customer driven miles, have given it a reputation for
being durable, reliable and powerful. The 95 cubic inch engine puts out an
amazing 108 horsepower, 114 ft. lbs of torque, and 420 lbs of thrust at
3800 rpm.
HogAir takes this engine package from Harley Davidson, ads it's
own reduction drive system, plus a 32 amp charging system, short exhaust
pipes, carb with air cleaner, and engine mount bolts for a total weight of
just over 214 lbs.

Powrachutes also demonstrated and had on display a jet engine mounted
on
one of their powered parachutes. While the craft did not fly at the show
the engine fuselage was brought out onto the ultralight runway and run up
for the crowd to see and hear.
(The noise was deafening from where I was
some 300 feet away!)
According to Powrachutes this is the first time
that a jet engine has ever been mounted and flown on a powered parachute.
The T - 58 jet engine, revs up to 27,000 rpm. has a thrust 5 jet engine
and climb rating, weighs in at 275 lbs, puts out 1400 horsepower, 4,000
lbs of torque, and measures 42 inches long and 14 inches in diameter.
