At lot has happened at Krucker Manufacturing since the debut of
their amphibious float system for trikes at Sun N Fun.
At Sun N Fun Krücker was using a
distributor to sell and distribute the floats in the U.S. Now the
floats will be sold and delivered right from the factory, and
instead of using a distributor Krucher will be setting up a dealer
network. Krucker has also been doing a little "refining" to the design, with custom seat covers, a custom instrument panel, for better cosmetics and a stronger front spreader bar which gives better durability and strength. The Krucker float and amphib set up is designed specifically for trikes with the step moved farther forward than conventional floats. This makes take offs possible in less than 5 seconds using only a 503 Rotax engine. The amphib set up is operated by a 2000 lb. electric super winch, and has a manual back up system. The winch can lift both plane a pilot in a matter of seconds. The floats are produced from 5052 aluminium the same as that used in aluminium boat construction. They are corrosion resistant, have three air tight seamless chambers, with cross bracing. Currently the floats can be bought built or as assembly kits. In flight the floats fly with a 2 degree angle of attack which decreases drag and allows the trike to fly virtually the same as it would if equipped with wheels only. Water rudders operated by either cables or tele-flex cables are also included with the floats. While in the future the retract design might be offered for flying boats, and the Full Lotus system right now Krucker is concentrating on the trike units.
